Our dog-friendly New York City coffee shop is our pride and joy. Nestled into a cozy corner of the Upper West Side, it’s a coffee-lover’s paradise that we’re proud to call our home away from home!
With so much to love about our Upper West Side coffee shop, we couldn’t help but make a list. From coffee that tastes as good as it makes you feel to pastries worth riding the 1 train for, here’s everything we love about our new Manhattan coffee shop.
We have delicious coffee drinks!
What’s a coffee shop without incredible coffee? When it comes to serving the perfect cup, we do anything but cut corners. Our coffee beans are sourced from the best farms around the world before being roasted locally in Brooklyn, New York. After passing through our doors, every drink is hand-crafted to order by our specially trained baristas; and the rest is history! There’s a long journey behind every cup, but it’s all worthwhile for that first sip feeling.
No matter your coffee preference, there’s something on our menu for you! We offer seven unique drink flavors – caramel, lavender, hazelnut, vanilla, honey, peppermint, and simple syrup – and more than half a dozen milks and milk substitutes. However, you imagine your dream cup of coffee, we have what it takes to bring your vision to life!
We don’t stop at coffee.
Sure, coffee may be our calling, but we still answer the phone to tea, juices, pastries, salads, sandwiches, overnight oats, and more! Step up to our counter and you’ll be amazed at the range of food and drinks you have at your fingertips, from croissants to scones and color-changing teas. Did you know we even offer alcoholic beverages? Now, you can sit back and enjoy a beer, wine, or cider in the company of New York City’s cutest dogs!
When we opened Black Lab Café, we set out to be a coffee shop that truly does it all. With an ever-growing menu and 17 unique food items to choose from, we’re well on our way to accomplishing that goal.

Our coffee shop is designed for you and your beloved pups to enjoy! While New York State food safety guidelines restrict companion animals from entering indoor dining or food preparation areas, our coffee shop is designed intentionally to create an environment that is both safe and dog-friendly! While our food preparation area is restricted to humans only, we welcome dogs of all ages, sizes, and breeds to socialize off leash in our seating area.
A dog-friendly coffee shop gives dog owners like you the opportunity to relax, enjoy a snack and socialize while their dogs do the same!
Black Lab Café is the only dog-friendly coffee shop on the Upper West Side, and we couldn’t be happier to give New York City dog owners a place to gather with their pups.
We have vegan-friendly options!
Black Lab Café is excited to offer a number of vegan pastries on our menu; because no dietary restriction should keep you from enjoying the simple pleasure of a cookie or muffin! Try our carrot muffin, banana bread, peanut butter chocolate chip cookie, or blueberry muffin – all egg- and dairy-free!
Complement your vegan treat with one of our plant-based coffee drinks. Check out our menu for the list of dairy-free milk substitutes.
Our treats are dog-approved – and adorably named!
Dogs deserve nothing but the best, and our specialized dog treats make sure they get it! We offer treats your dogs are sure to be excited about – and get the paw print of approval before adding them to our menu! Treat your pup to artisan dog treats from Maison De Paws (Puptarts, Paw’reos, Pupcakes and more!) or try our own fresh, human-grade dog food, available in chicken, beef and turkey recipes.
We just ask that you be mindful of other dogs when serving treats or food in the cafe; otherwise, bon appetit!
You can enjoy your coffee inside or outside.
One of our favorite things about our Upper West Side coffee shop is its large, cozy, and covered outdoor seating area. The calming ambience of our peaceful little corner of Manhattan is too good to miss; and thanks to our gorgeous outdoor seating area, you don’t have to!
Our coffee shop offers free Wi-Fi for customers!
Last but not least, we love that our coffee shop offers free Wi-Fi to all of our customers. Black Lab Café is a place where people can gather to spend time with their community, enjoy a flavorful cup of coffee, and start their morning on a high note. Our Wi-Fi makes it possible to do all of that while still productively communicating with coworkers and friends! Whether you’re sending emails while your dog plays tug-of-war or working on a paper while a local pup claims you as their new BFF, our Wi-Fi makes sure you can make 9-5 your favorite time of day.
